It is 9 000 kilometers long, from East to West. Built 2000 years ago some parts are nowdays ruins but numerous parts are still visible. The Great Wall is a military construction, which goal was to protect the North of China. The beginning of the construction started in -220 before J.-C. under the Qin dynasty. Then it continued under the Han, Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties, it endend during the XVIInd century.

The easiest  way to go to the Great Wall is from Beijing. There are two big parts Il y a deux grandes portions accessible, Badaling and Mutianyu. Badaling is well preserved. Mutianyu is the part which is less visited so it will be quite. 

The Great Wall is listed on the UNESCO World Heritage site in 1987, it is one of the seven wonders.
