Kailash Mount

This mount is located in Ngari, rises up to 6 638 meters of altitude and is a part of the Gangdise range. Four of the longest rivers of Asia the Indus, the Sutlej, the Brahmapoutre and the Karnali take their sources near the Kailash mount. This mount is considerated as sacred by hindus, buddhists, bonpos and jaïns. It is assimililated to the Mery mount myth, which is considerated as the axis of the World in the Persian, buddhist and hindu mythologies. This mount is one of the most important pilgrimage site. 

The word Kailâsa means crstal en sanskrit. Tibetans nicknamed the mount, Gang Rimpoche or Kang Ripoche, which means the precious jewels of snow. l
